Should I use Restock Recommendations or Restock from Upload?
The answer to this question depends if you are shipping inventory to Amazon from your local warehouse or your supplier and if you would like to view and update inventory for a set of items.
If you ship your products directly from your supplier into FBA, you would create a shipment in Restock Recommendations. If you are sending inventory from your local warehouse to Amazon, you would also use Restock Recommendations, or you could use Restock from Upload.
The purpose of Restock from Upload is to expedite the process of uploading local warehouse inventory for any set of items and moving directly into creating a shipment.
Restock from Upload
To create a shipment from your local warehouse, you will first be prompted to upload your current warehouse inventory. Shipments can be made for only one warehouse location at a time, so only upload quantities from one warehouse for items you would like to add to this shipment. Items with uploaded inventory will be the only items displayed in the next step, inventory selection. It is not necessary to upload inventory for all active SKUs unless you would like to view all. Next, you will see all available information relative to warehouse lead times and restock suggestions for each SKU. You can then add quantities to your shipment, select the warehouse to ship from, and submit the shipment to Amazon.
Restock Recommendations
When navigating to Restock Recommendations, first choose if you would like to view SKUs from a specific supplier, items with warehouse inventory, or choose to view all. The image above is the information seen next, where you can modify product details, see restock recommendations, and create your shipment. In the far right column is "Order Qty" where you enter the number of units you would like to send to Amazon for each item. You have the option of manually entering an order quantity or selecting the restock recommendation. After an order quantity has been entered for one item, a pop-up will prompt you to name your shipment to initiate shipment creation. Afterward, you can continue to add items, then select "Create FBA Shipment" when it is ready to be submitted to Amazon.
*Note: Shipments can be made from only one supplier or warehouse address at a time, be cautious when viewing all suppliers/items.
Restock Recommendations: In Restock Recommendations, you will see three different restock recommendations to choose from when creating a shipment.
Supplier Restock Recommendation will give you a recommended reorder quantity based on your supplier lead time and daily sales rate calculation.
Forecast Recommended Qty will give you a recommended reorder quantity based on your supplier lead time and the forecast data alone.
Warehouse Restock Recommendation is the recommendation based on your warehouse lead times and daily sales rate calculation. This is the same calculation you would find when creating a shipment in Restock from Upload.
