Why Backfill Sales History?
Within Modify Item History we also offer a Backfilling data manipulation that will help our models pick up seasonality for items that have less than two years of sales history. This feature can improve your forecast accuracy by adding additional sales history to analyze. You must have one full year of sales data for the item to be backfilled.
Be careful using this feature; it can help forecasts in some situations, but harm them in others, especially when there were uncorrected sales anomalies in the past. Backfilling non-seasonal products can create artificial seasonality if the data is not normalized.
To apply backfill for an item:
Go to Manage company > Advanced > Edit Item History, search the product you wish to edit and toggle on Backfill:
You can also go to Manage Company > Items and select the button in the "History" column and toggle Backfill on from there:
